Connecting Practice and Learning Across the Thames Estuary

The Greater Thames Estuary Restoration Conference

The habitats of the Greater Thames Estuary are widely recognised as both internationally important for wildlife, and in a state of degradation and fragmentation.

Owing to these contrasting characteristics, landowners, environmental groups, researchers, and industry representatives have been conserving, restoring and researching habitats and species across this seascape for decades, including using novel and innovative approaches. In the face of climate change and the increased pressures that brings, this work is more important now than ever.

In recognition of this, the Transforming the Thames partnership is hosting the Greater Thames Estuary Restoration Conference on 9th November 2026, with the goal of bringing people together to share their experiences and knowledge of restoration in the estuary, and to identify opportunities for collaboration.

This one-day conference will be held at London Zoo and will be an inspiring day of talks presented by practitioners, landowners, regulators and scientists working on coastal habitats across the estuary.

More information can be found in the conference programme here.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided. All details on getting to the venue, and other logistical information, will be shared with registered attendees ahead of time.
