The Charles Hayward Foundation recently generously funded redevelopment of the Reading Room to transform it into a welcoming, engaging and more flexible space. The Library reopened on 5th March 2024 and we hope you are able to visit us soon to see our transformation.

Opening Hours

ZSL Library is open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and from May 2024, the Library will also be open on Thursdays. Opening hours are from 10.30am-5pm, and visits are by appointment only.

ZSL Library & Archives are closed on all public holidays, Mondays, Fridays and at weekends.

Please email 24 hours in advance to make an appointment to visit so we can reserve a desk for you.

If you plan to consult any of our 'special collections' i.e. Archives, historic books or art works, then please email a week before your visit. We can then arrange to retrieve material ready for your visit.
