Joint call to action on strengthening synergies across the Rio Conventions for Climate, Nature and Land
A call to action from civil society organisations, knowledge institutions and non-state actors, on strengthening synergies across the Rio Conventions and advancing integrated action for climate, nature and land.
About the statement
Biodiversity loss, climate change and land degradation are deeply interconnected. They share common drivers and compound one another, affecting food, water and energy security, public health, livelihoods and economic stability. Yet the international response remains siloed. Fragmented policy and financing duplicate effort, waste limited public resources, and create avoidable trade-offs between climate, nature and development goals.
Developed by a wide range of organisations at the heart of action on climate, nature and land, this statement calls on Parties and current and incoming COP Presidencies and implementation actors to prioritise and strengthen coherence, coordination and collaboration across the three Conventions, moving from political recognition to effective implementation on the ground across climate, biodiversity and land.
