ZSL tigers give The Royal Mint coin the roar of approval

14 April 2026

Celebrating 200 years of ZSL’s work for wildlife, the coin is now available to buy individually, with proceeds supporting conservation around the world.

A very special new addition appeared in Tiger Territory at London Zoo: a two-metre wooden replica of The Royal Mint’s commemorative ZSL £2 coin.

Our Sumatran tigers, Asim and Gaysha, wasted no time investigating the giant coin stalking, sniffing and exploring the temporary feature in their habitat.

The coin design brings together three species at the heart of our conservation story. Each of the animals featured had its chance to approve the design, from our big cats to our tiny Partula snails and, of course, the Socorro doves.

Our dedicated keepers who care for these three species also had the opportunity to see a special version of the coin in person.

Alongside the species, the artwork reflects the habitats around the world that we work to protect and restore. The edge inscription, Restoring Wildlife Together, captures our unique approach: combining world-leading science, expert animal care and on-the-ground conservation action to protect wildlife and restore nature.

Support wildlife with every purchase

Previously released as part of The Royal Mint’s 2026 collection, the special £2 coin celebrating our 200 years of working for wildlife is now available to purchase individually, with prices starting from £17.50. The Royal Mint will generously donate a portion of the proceeds to help us continue our global conservation efforts.
