This June, we want to travel all the way ‘Around the World in 30 Days’, and we need your help. Here’s eleven reasons why you should join our fundraising challenge:
1. It’s a great excuse to get out in the fresh air…
… and hopefully the sun will be shining too! Sometimes, having a reason to get out and about is what we all need to boost our mood. This challenge isn’t about speed, so a gentle walk around your local park – or Zoo – will release those endorphins, and contribute to our target distance at the same time. It’s a win-win.
2. You can get creative
You don’t have to walk, run or cycle, you can take part in our challenge anyway you like! You could scoot, roller skate, even go on horseback if you wanted to. The choice is entirely yours, so it could be your chance to learn a new skill, or show off an existing one.
3. You can join as part of a team…
Get your colleagues together at lunchtime for a team-building walk, or go out for an evening natter with your friends. Taking part with other people is a great way to keep connected, and you can help to motivate each other too.
4. … Or compete with friends or family
If you’re feeling more competitive, go solo and see who can cover the furthest distance or raise the most money. There’s nothing like a bit of friendly competition to get you lacing up those trainers!
5. You can get your pets involved
Lots of our supporters take part alongside their dogs – you’re walking your dog anyway so why not help to protect other animals at the same time? We love to see photos of your furry friends, so share them with us on social media by tagging @OfficialZSL.

6. It’s easy to track your distances
Just connect your JustGiving account to Strava and off you go. We’ll send you more information on exactly how to get set up and ready for the challenge. Then, you’ll be able to set yourself your own target, and you might surprise yourself with how many km you do on a daily basis without even realising.
7. The money you raise will make a real difference
ZSL is a conservation charity, working around the world to protect wildlife and restore habitats. By taking part in this challenge, you’ll be part of a community raising vital funds and doing something incredible to support our work.
8. You’ll learn more about wildlife and conservation
With weekly emails throughout June, you’ll learn more about the animals and their habitats that you’re helping to support. We’ll be highlighting our conservation in the different countries that we collectively 'travel' through on our around the world adventure.
9. You can get a free t-shirt
Everyone who raises over £30 or more will be eligible to receive a free ZSL exercise t-shirt – look out for the link in your welcome email.
The average visitor to London Zoo walks around 5km? Connect up your Strava when you next visit either Zoo and see what distance you cover.
10. You can request two FREE Zoo tickets
Everyone who raises £100 or more can request two FREE tickets to either London or Whipsnade Zoo, where you can see our conservation in action. We’ll tell you more about how in your welcome email.
11. This will be your last chance to take part
This is the last year we’re going to be running our Around the World fundraising challenge – there’ll be something brand new next year. So we really want to travel the full 40,075km around the world, and need your help to reach this target.
