The Convention on Biological Diversity
The seventeenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD COP17) will take place in Yerevan, Armenia, from 19-30 October 2026. With just four years remaining to achieve the goals and targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, COP17 is a critical opportunity to accelerate implementation and address gaps in progress.
COP17 ZSL recommendations for the negotiations
In our recommendations, ZSL calls for:
- A strong political response to the first Global Review of Collective Progress
- Greater cooperation across biodiversity, climate and land agendas
- Meaningful progress on biodiversity finance and resource mobilisation
- Strong outcomes for species recovery, protected areas and the conservation workforce
- Adoption of the Global Plan of Action on Education for Biodiversity
- Enhanced action on biodiversity and health through One Health approaches
- Improved monitoring, reporting and accountability mechanisms to support implementation through to 2030
