Harriet McAra creates opportunities to turn our science and conservation work into impact that benefits wildlife, people and the environment.
Working with a variety of platforms, Harriet creates and facilitates pathways to impact for the work of our science and conservation professionals. This includes organising an annual programme of free, public Science and Conservation Events and academic symposia, developing institutional impact narratives and case studies, hosting and producing the ZSL Wild Science podcast, and curating the ZSL Science and Conservation YouTube channel. This is alongside other forms of science communication internally for ZSL staff and students, and externally to key stakeholders, partners, and funders.
Harriet also manages the Wild Talks lecture series, our special public lecture series exploring the biggest questions in wildlife science and conservation - past, present and future - taking place throughout 2026 as part of ZSL's 200th anniversary celebrations.
As a result of these activities, we want to empower audiences to use our work through calls to action and behaviour change, and to support the translation of research into policy engagement and collaborations, maximising its reach, influence, and impact.
