Garden Wildlife Health is a collaborative project between the Zoological Society of London (ZSL), the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO), Froglife and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB).

It aims to monitor the health of and identify disease threats to, British wildlife. Our particular focus is on garden birds, amphibians, reptiles and hedgehogs. For this, we count on the help of the public to submit reports of sick or dead wildlife and to submit samples for analysis.

The Garden Wildlife Health project monitors trends and investigates emerging threats to garden wildlife health. We raise public awareness of disease threats to garden wildlife and promote best practice for activities that involve garden wildlife to help safeguard their health. We communicate outcomes to the public, scientific communities and government agencies to prioritise actions to enhance the environment and biodiversity, and public and domestic animal health.
