Edwina Garchitorena

Edwina specialises in science-based, participatory coastal resource management and species and habitat conservation. She fosters community involvement in sustainable resource management and resilience. Her goal is to develop effective marine and coastal conservation policies in the Philippines, grounded in science and stakeholder engagement at both national and local levels. Previously, Edwina led a program on sustainable fisheries management and has worked with communities in marine and terrestrial protected areas. She has collaborated with the Philippine Department of Environment and Natural Resources and contributed to environmental legislation under the Senate Committee on Environment.
