My work addresses critical data gaps in the ecology of sharks, rays and skates off the Welsh coast to inform the management of two Special Areas of Conservation (SACs).

These species are in decline across the globe and it is essential that we are able to monitor them effectively so that we can better understand how we are impacting them and how we can prevent further declines.

Understanding the ecology of sharks and rays off the UK coast so that populations can be protected effectively. Environmental DNA will have an important role to play in long-term monitoring and should be accessible to a range of stakeholders including area managers and researchers.
