Sustainable business management
Leading ZSL's engagement with the business sector and managing the Sustainable Business team
I work with businesses, farmers, academics and NGOs to explore how we can provide everyone with the food and clothing they need while safeguarding the environment and livelihoods. Over the years, I have developed a strong expertise in biodiversity risk assessments, strategy development and biodiversity monitoring.
My career is rooted in academia, researching tropical rainforest conservation and smallholder agriculture in Papua New Guinea for my PhD, and building up a deep knowledge of sustainable land management and community conservation initiatives. I then transitioned to work in the corporate sector advising businesses on how to act for nature, first as a Senior Project Manager at Proforest and then as a Principal Consultant at Biodiversify. Through my work I have built up a wide network of connections across businesses such as PepsiCo, AAK, Primark and Tetra Pak, certification bodies including RSPO, BCI and AWS, academia, NGOs and farmers. I am always keen to connect so do reach out via e-mail or Linkedin!
I have lived and worked in The Netherlands, New Zealand, USA, Papua New Guinea, India and England, and speak Dutch, English and Tok Pisin fluently. I hold a BSc in Liberal Arts & Sciences from University College Utrecht, and a PhD from the University of Oxford in Interdisciplinary Bioscience.
