Armstrong is a Forester and Geospatial Technology practitioner at the forefront of private sector engagement at ZSL to reduce deforestation in soft commodity supply chains in the Congo Basin. He works in our Sustainable Business and Finance Team and is based in our Yaounde office. He has been engaging the timber sector in the Congo Basin on environmental social governance (ESG) policies and practices since February 2020 and has contributed to creating and strengthening several soft commodity platforms e.g. palm oil and cocoa, in Cameroon. Armstrong represents ZSL on these areas as well as on the Standard Review Task Force for RSPO P&C 2018.

Armstrong's work supports the West and Central Africa Programme on strategic planning to leverage conservation outcomes in the region where he has long standing experience working with governments, private sector, community organisations and civil society organisations.

He has experience in legality and sustainability compliance for several commodities including timber and palm oil industries and has contributed to several initiatives to improve practices and build baselines in the timber, palm oil and cocoa sectors.

Our shared future, including wildlife, is built on the integrity of global ecosystems and the environmental and social services which they offer. Science enables informed evidenced based decision making and promotes accuracy and equity for a fairer coexistence. Armstrong's work on compliance with legal and sustainability engagement that can effectively curb deforestation, and protects several important habitants for wildlife and other organisms can contribute to the fight to save wildlife.
