Agricultural expansion is the leading cause of deforestation worldwide. Our Sustainable Business and Finance team engage with Financial Institutions and the most influential companies in palm oil, timber, pulp, and natural rubber supply chains to promote the value of sustainability and improve corporate practices to prevent further conversion of tropical forests and other natural ecosystems.

Our SPOTT initiative assesses companies operating in tropical forest landscapes on their transparency of crucial sustainability information such as robust zero-deforestation policies, progress on paying the living wage to workers, and implementing measures to safeguard threatened species. Our data is then used inform the decisions of investors and buyers. By engaging with multiple stakeholder groups we aim to collectively improve corporate practices and lessen the negative impacts of agriculture on wildlife and people.

We must engage with all groups that have direct and indirect impacts on tropical forests to create a future where these globally significant ecosystems thrive.
