UNIQUE WILDLIFE ON THE BRINK OF EXTINCTION
The Chinese giant salamander if the world's largest amphibian, growing up to 1.8m in length, and is threatened with extinction.
Overhunting for human consumption and habitat loss has had a catastrophic effect on these aquatic giants.
We're working with local people and government to help protect Chinese giant salamanders in the wild, whilst also caring for two giant salamanders at London Zoo, that were saved from illegal trafficking by the UK Border Force. Our work has provided a new understanding of this ancient animal, helping to inform important plans for its protection.
Will you join us in protecting Critically Endangered Chinese giant salamanders, and other unique but often overlooked species, before it's too late? By giving a one-off or regular donation to our conservation work, you can help us take practical action to protect giant salamanders, as well as supporting countless other threatened species around the world. Please donate to support wildlife today.
WHY SUPPORT ZSL?
ZSL is an international conservation charity driven by science, working to restore wildlife in the UK and around the world. We’re a powerful movement of conservationists from different countries and disciplines, working together to save animals on the brink of extinction and those who could be next.
We have a unique insight and evidence-based approach, made possible through a powerful combination of our world-leading scientific research and conservation work in over 50 countries, supported by our conservation Zoos.
And we have a proven track record of delivering sustainable solutions that really work - for wildlife and people. We've saved Extinct-in-the-Wild species, helped to double tiger numbers in Nepal and India, restored vital wildlife habitats and are disrupting the illegal wildlife trade.
Please help us by donating, and join the fight to save our natural world.
