Whipsnade is turning 90 years old!
We're marking our big birthday with special activities, that can be enjoyed by families, across our 600-acre site.
Throughout May half term (29 May – 6 June), we'll be running lots of exciting activities! Join us for a birthday treasure hunt - any child that finds a treasure token hidden somewhere in the Zoo will win a prize! (Prizes can be claimed at the Event Hub - the River Room, near the outdoor picnic area and Butterfly House). Families can also follow the birthday trail around the Zoo and collect a free sticker when they have completed it (stickers must be collected before 5.30pm when the Event Hub closes).
Back in our Event Hub, visitors can create birthday-themed crafts including origami elephants to celebrate one of Whipsnade’s most iconic animals, as well as take a look at how the Zoo’s keeper uniforms have changed over the decades.
Even the animals will be getting in on the fun, with keepers giving some of the Zoo’s 3,500 animals special 90th birthday treats.
All activities are included in Zoo entry and will run throughout the day from 29 May - 6 June. Please note, Zoo tickets must be booked online in advance.
We'll also be running a special tour to celebrate, which is free but must be booked in advance:
'What makes a Whipsnade?' family-friendly tours (open to all)
- 10:30am & 2.45pm from 29 May - 3 June
- 10:30am, 2pm & 3:30pm from 4 - 6 June
