It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

The countdown to Christmas has begun at ZSL London Zoo, as zookeepers prepared seasonal surprises for the Zoo’s residents to enjoy.

Squirrel monkeys woke up to find a new Christmas climbing frame in their In With the Monkeys home at ZSL London Zoo

The Zoo’s mischievous troop of Bolivian black-capped squirrel monkeys woke up to find a new Christmas climbing frame under the trees in their In with the Monkeys home – decorated with edible gifts.

In Tiger Territory, Sumatran tiger Asim pounced on brightly wrapped presents filled with his favourite turkey wings, while the Zoo’s ring-tailed lemurs joined the action with their own hanging stockings, stuffed with a selection of veggie trimmings.

ZSL London Zoo’s Animal Operations Manager, Angela Ryan, said: “It’s the season of giving and our keepers always look forward to sharing the magic of Christmas with the animals at ZSL London Zoo.

“Just like children all over the country when they wake up on Christmas morning, Asim loved tearing into his brightly wrapped presents to get at the meaty snacks inside, while our squirrel monkeys and lemurs enjoyed finding the festive treats hidden in their stockings.

“With plenty of very merry fun for all ages, ZSL London Zoo is the perfect place for families to enjoy a Christmas day out – visitors can make presents for the animals with Santa’s elves, enjoy themed rides, watch free festive films and much more!”

Open every day apart from Christmas Day, enjoy a magical day out at ZSL London Zoo this December – families can even walk off Christmas lunch amongst the animals on Boxing Day.
