What they look like
Each dog has its own unique patterns and markings. No two are the same.
Animal facts
Pack sizes range from 4 to 40 animals, usually with more males than females. Communication is highly developed and hunting is carefully planned with each dog having a role to play in ensuring the kill.
What they eat
Mostly antelope and wildebeest but often warthogs, zebra and even lizards.
Habitat
Grassy plains, bushy savannah.
Where they live
Sub Sarahan Africa although virtually gone from West Africa.
Threats
Human encroachment, diseases spread by domestic animals, and persecution by humans.
