ZSL London Zoo’s ring-tailed lemurs were given an icy treat to cool off.
Made with fruit juices and water, and topped with their favourite seeds, the Madagascan primates were filmed by zookeepers tucking into the frozen summer treat, gently licking the ice lolly to pry out their snacks.
The nimble lemurs are well equipped to deal with summer, with the black rings around their eyes acting as natural sunglasses. Renowned sun worshippers, the stripy-tailed creatures can often be spotted by visitors to London Zoo’s In with the Lemurs walkthrough exhibit sunbathing on their special platforms, or sitting with their arms apart so the sun can warm their stomachs.
Travel the World at London Zoo this summer; explore the Indian forest home of Asiatic lions, spy tigers in the long grasses of the Indonesian-inspired Tiger Territory and head Into Africa to spot towering giraffes and wallowing pygmy hippos. Tickets must be booked in advance.
