ZSL wins Guardian Sustainable Business Award

ZSL is very proud to announce that our Net-Works program has been awarded the Guardian Sustainable Business Award. These annual awards showcase genuine innovation in corporate sustainability and recognises people and projects that take sustainability to the very heart of their businesses.

Net-Works - Nets

Net-Works won the award for Collaboration, which recognises a project or initiative that breaks down traditional barriers. Judges were looking for examples of several partners working together in non-traditional ways towards a goal that delivers truly sustainable outcomes.

Net-works was created through the partnership of ZSL and global carpet tile manufacturer Interface, Inc. It tackles the growing environmental problem of discarded fishing nets in some of the world’s poorest coastal communities. So far, the project has collected more than 55,000kg of discarded fishing nets in the Philippines. Laid end to end, these nets would stretch all the way around the planet!
