The Great North Run is the world’s biggest half marathon, now in its 42nd year. The iconic event starts in Newcastle upon Tyne, taking you across the famous Tyne Bridge towards the seafront finish line in South Shields.
With an incredible atmosphere, it's a fantastic event for everyone. Participants come from every postcode region in the UK to take part, with around 60,000 runners each year. The event is televised live on the BBC.

We can offer you a ZSL charity place in the Great North Run 2023. Sign up to join our team of animal-lovers, and raise vital funds for wildlife conservation.
To apply for a place, email fundraising@zsl.org and let us know why you'd like to fundraise for ZSL, and how much you plan to raise.
Please note that ZSL’s Great North Run charity places are limited and we’re not able to offer a place to everyone who applies, but if you are not successful in getting a place, we have many other events that you can get involved with on our fundraising page.
