What we do

21st Century Tiger supports carefully chosen conservation projects that are dedicated to making a long term difference to the future of wild tigers. It funds projects that are run by internationally respected conservation NGOs including WCS, FFI, Phoenix Fund, ZSL, Freeland, EIA and IFAW. All projects funded by 21st Century Tiger are reviewed and monitored by leading conservation experts to ensure best practice and effective outcomes. Project themes have included anti-poaching, education & community outreach, wildlife-trade and research in China, India, Nepal,  Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Russia.  Since 2013 projects based in Russia are managed through its specialist sister organisation, Amur Leopard and Tiger Alliance.

Working with zoos

Globally, zoos are visited by over 6 hundred million visitors a year – that is more than attend football matches! One of the strengths of 21st Century Tiger is its links with the international zoo community.  21st Century Tiger works with zoos globally to fund wild tiger conservation and to help zoos produce visitor information that is as up-to-date and engaging as possible to cement the concept of financial support for wild tiger conservation.

During 2002-4, 21st Century Tiger acted as the official channel for tiger conservation campaigns run by the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums (EAZA) and the Zoo and Aquarium Association Australasia (ZAA). The EAZA campaigns were particularly successful, raising a staggering three-quarter of a million Euros!
