"I have been visiting the Zoo since I was a child and have many happy memories of Whipsnade. This photo was taken on the calf's first time outside when she was just two days old. It was amazing to see how she followed Donna around. Donna was so relaxed and almost seemed to be showing her off – a very proud mum! It was also lovely to see Kaylee & Lucha being close by for reassurance but equally giving Donna space to care for the little one and learn things herself. It was a very special moment." "Sometimes we spend a couple of hours in the Africa section, while on other visits we might spend more time with the butterflies and the aquarium. The aquarium is such a relaxing environment, especially for a toddler. She loves the colours, and how they move. My daughter is only one year old, so might be too young to fully understand everything she sees, but it's great doing something outside and learning about the animals together. It's important for me that she sees all the different types of animals and learns about how they move and sound from a young age." Zoe Murphy and daughter Kaia

"I used to come to London Zoo a lot with my mum when I was growing up, but this was my first time back in seven years! My partner Anthony and I came for his birthday treat – he couldn't remember ever going to London Zoo, but we both share a love of animals. Anthony always jokes that sloths are my spirit animal (their love of sleep and lazing around is something I can definitely relate to). I was shocked to see the sloth so close to me, I wouldn't have even noticed it sleeping above the walkway if it wasn't for the friendly ZSL volunteer who pointed it out to us! A day to remember and I hope to visit again soon."  Lily Rose Hammett

"I've been coming to Whipsnade my whole life, and have watched the Amur tiger boys grow from tiny cubs into the adults they are now – they are certainly my favourite animal in the Zoo. During lockdown I rediscovered my passion for photography and realised that Whipsnade was the best place for me to refine my skills and spend time with the animals I love! I also started volunteering at Whipsnade at the beginning of this year and am loving being able to spend even more time here." Rebecca Stone, ZSL Volunteer

"A day out for us is a chance to escape regular life and make new memories, and London Zoo offers some unique experiences with animals that can't be seen elsewhere. This was our first time back after six years, and one of the reasons we were excited to visit again was the newborn tiger cubs. We were so happy that we got to see them out and about playing in their enclosure. Monkey Valley was also a great experience – walkthrough enclosures just make you feel so much closer to the animals. It's really unique within this country and a great addition to the Zoo." Adam and Craig

"I've been a gold member for three years. I love my visits to Whipsnade, I always come home feeling refreshed from seeing all the different animals. I took this ostrich photo on the way to lions, and I loved the way it was watching me – I could just imagine it saying 'What are you doing?' They're such funny creatures and the kids really enjoy running up and down the fence next to them, so we always make time to visit them." Frances Woolnough, ZSL Member

"I am a very keen amateur photographer and a member of Loughton Camera Club. Quite often other members of the club share photos taken on safari, so I thought I would try my hand at the Zoo. My aim for the day was to try to get a photo of the gorillas and capture their soulful eyes. I also went around the zoo and captured some beautiful images in the butterfly and insect houses."
