Meet our colouring competition winners!
We asked young readers to get creative with a pair of parrots in our spring Wild About magazine. Congratulations to budding-artists Oliver and Nina - the winners of our colouring competition - and thank you to all those who entered.
Winner, Oliver Gilmartin, 10
"I spent lots of time researching the colours of real macaws and inventing my own design. I like their vibrant colours and I even saw macaws flying in the wild in Brazil when I went to visit my cousin. I am extremely pleased to have won the competition!
“I’ve been lucky to visit both Whipsnade and London Zoo since lockdown. The rainforest enclosure at London is wonderful with the entertaining emperor tamarin and golden lion-headed tamarin. The elephants, the butterfly house and the bears are my favourite at Whipsnade.”
“We were at London Zoo a couple of weeks ago and spent a long time enjoying the macaws flying in their enclosure,” added mum Katy.
Runner up, Nina Foster, 7
“Nina is delighted to be runner-up,” said mum Gale.
“We haven’t been back to the Zoo yet,” said Nina. “I’m really looking forward to seeing the parrots. I love that they are so colourful!
