Hello! My name’s Ana and I am a Discovery and Learning Officer at ZSL London Zoo. I’m about to travel to the other side of the world, 14,000km from London, to the island of Pitcairn. Part of a chain of volcanic islands in the southern Pacific Ocean, it’s going to take me several days to get there, travelling by plane and then boat to reach this incredibly remote location.
Inhabited by the descendants of the Bounty mutineers and the Tahitians (or Polynesians) who accompanied them, I’m going to be exploring the habitats and animals on this unique island and its surrounding seas. I’ll also be meeting the school children who call this island home. Follow my blog and discover more about ZSL’s involvement in developing a better understanding of the island’s aquatic environment and increasing global awareness of Pitcairn’s incredible marine biodiversity.
