United for Wildlife Online Learning Project Manager

ZSL, as part of the Royal Foundation’s ground-breaking United for Wildlife initiative, is seeking an outstanding individual to help build the capacity of the next generation of conservation leaders. You will be experienced in the design, management and delivery of online learning, with a business or technology background and expertise in education, and be passionate about applying this to conservation. Your primary goal will be to develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for the development of a MOOC as the first step in our educational drive to identify, train and support future conservationists.

There is a clear need for online learning material for students interested in conservation, particularly in developing countries where logistical considerations restrict attendance at face-to-face learning institutions. ZSL already implements and contributes to a number of training courses both in the UK and overseas, and wishes to develop an online learning platform utilising these resources as a key part of the United for Wildlife initiative. You will spearhead this, through developing a MOOC covering an ‘Introduction to Conservation Leadership’. You will be able to map the MOOC proposition to meet both the needs of the target audience and the aims of United for Wildlife; effectively elucidate the role of the MOOC across the partner community; serve as the Royal Foundation and ZSL resource for online learning; research and incorporate evolving technological trends; direct and implement the overall online learning plan for United for Wildlife.

Based in London, the post-holder will sit within ZSL’s Conservation Programmes department and work closely with the Discovery and Learning department, as well as with external elearning partner Floream, and the other United for Wildlife partners. The ability to interact with and manage a diverse range of partners and contributors will be essential.

This is a six month position, available immediately, but successful development of the online learning initiative may offer the potential for extension.

To apply please complete separately the ZSL Application Form and Equality of Opportunity Monitoring Form, including your current salary and salary expectations, and send this along with your CV and details of two referees to hr@zsl.org
