Head of Operations Conservation Programmes

Job Overview/Purpose:

The Zoological Society of London is seeking a new role of, Head of Operations for our Conservation Programmes department.


The Head of Operations will report to the Director of Conservation Programmes, and will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of internal processes in the department.  This will include liaising with all parts of ZSL and providing appropriate leadership support, reporting, monitoring and communications systems as well as supporting ZSL’s conservation staff working in the UK and overseas.  


Person Specification:

An understanding of key issues relevant to biodiversity conservation combined with global or overseas work experience would be of benefit. The successful candidate will also have experience of working with HR & Finance to implement corporate policies and procedures such as financial, HR and risk management. Current or previous people management experience is essential as is the ability to work with a wide range of people from different cultures.


The post holder also serves as deputy to the Director of Conservation Programmes for internal purposes, regularly representing the department at director level within the Society.
