See some of the most amazing animal photography in the world at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo!

Gharial By Robert HeischmanIn 2012, the Zoological Society of London launched the ZSL Animal Photography Prize, a competition set up to find the most amazing animal photography in the world.

The ZSL Animal Photography Prize aimed for more than just pretty pictures, we were looking for images that would form part of an exhibition and ongoing collection of work which would challenge the viewers’ perception of and relationship with the natural The Weevil and The Fern by Victoria Hillmanworld and its inhabitants.

ZSL’s scientific and field conservation work with animals around the world, along with the inhabitants at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo and its city cousin in London, have always inspired legions of photographers.

Archive photographs in the zoo’s collection date as far back as 1860, showing that all creatures’ great and small have been rousing subjects for photographers since the advent of photography.

The competition attracted entrants from around the world and the calibre of the work entered has been truly remarkable. The winning and highly commended images in each category of the junior and adult divisions have formed the basis of an outdoor exhibition displayed in the Florida Manatees just before sunrise by Ibrahim Roushdiheart of ZSL Whipsnade Zoo.

Come and see the amazing exhibition outside the Discovery Centre at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo. On display now!
