Get In With The Lemurs at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo

Our exciting new exhibit In With The Lemurs is now open.

Lemur island has always given a magical first taste of adventure for our visitors, with its location straight opposite the entrance. The new walk-through experience will allow the public to see our 14 “bachelors boys” close-up in their Madagascar-style home.
Following a path through the lemurs’ enclosure, people will cross over a new bridge and see these energetic primates leaping about, catching a bit of sun around their pond and maybe even having a stink fight!
Overhead are climbing ropes for the lemurs to scamper across, adding to the fun, while in the summer months, explainers will be holding daily presentations in the initimate seating area. Imaginative planting, with grasses, evergreens and bamboos will give a hint and scent of the wonders of the beautiful and unique island of Madagascar, from where our lemurs originate.
ZSL Whipsnade Zoo is a member of EAZA – the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria – whose campaign for 2006-2007 is supporting Madagascar, one of the most important biodiversity hot spots on earth.
