Special Children's Day 2012

Special Children's Day welcomes children with special needs and their families and friends to ZSL London Zoo on Saturday 19th May.

Over 4,000 people attend this unique event each year, and with increased specialist facilities and number of staff, as well as special 'interactive events', Special Children's Day at ZSL London Zoo is an exciting and exceptional event not to be missed.

Not only that, but all tickets for this special event are being offered at a reduced rate.

We are pleased to announce that ticket prices for this year’s event have been frozen from last year’s:

• All children up to 18yrs: £8.50 (Normal Zoo price £17.00 for children up to 16yrs)
• One Carer per family: FREE (Carer must be over 18yrs)
• Additional Adults: £12.50 (Normal Zoo price £22.00)
• Children under 3 years: FREE

Please note: We are expecting a lot of visitors on Special Children's Day so the Zoo's car parks will be in demand. You may need to plan for alternative parking arrangements and, if possible, we recommend visitors take public transport .

  Pick up your Special Children’s Day day-planner and exclusive discount vouchers. Meet friendly zoo characters and be entertained by The Dixie Swing Band!
• The 'Discovery Zone’: including hands-on activities and a chill out zone. Developed and presented in collaboration with the National Autistic Society (NAS). ZSL London Zoo staff members have attended an autism awareness session delivered by the NAS, who will also be present on the day
• Animal displays: Exciting animal feeds & talks accompanied by British Sign Language interpreters.(pick up your sign language information sheet at the entrance)
• Rainforest Experience Our all-new amazing sensory experience for children with sight impairment in London's only living rainforest . (Please note that this special experience is pre-booked only and is now FULL.)
• Animal Adventure: Meet some of our fantastic animals in the touch paddock, or play in the splash zone and secret garden.
• Arts & Craft Zone: Make your own badge or treats and toys for our animals, or draw with our resident artist.
• Sensory Storytelling events: Interactive stories from inside one of our animal houses!
• Olli the signing monkey: NEW FOR 2012 Learn some animal-themed sign language at Olli’s show, or meet him around the Zoo throughout the day.
• And last but not least the whole of ZSL London Zoo to explore with the largest collection of animals anywhere in the UK!
