Safari in the City

20 May 2015 18:30 - 23:30

This summer, the Zoological Society of London presents a very special gala evening of wildlife, adventure, fine dining and entertainment. We are throwing open our doors for a VIP after-hours event like no other.

In the heart of the capital, we’re putting on a unique safari experience inspired by the sights and sounds of India, the last refuge of the magnificent Asiatic lion. Transported to the heart of India, our guests will enjoy a unique opportunity to:

  • Be whisked away on a VIP tour of ZSL London Zoo, without the crowds
  • Hear from conservation experts
  • Savour cocktails and canapés by twilight
  • Feast on an Indian safari-themed dinner
  • Bid for once-in-a-lifetime prizes, including visits to our overseas projects

Safari In The City lion

Proceeds from Safari In The City will allow us to create an inspirational new Asiatic lion breeding facility at the heart of ZSL London Zoo, engaging and educating the public about these extraordinary animals.

The campaign will also support urgent projects in India to protect the last remaining wild lions.

There are just 400 Asiatic Lions left in the wild. They survive only in the Gir Forest in western India – but this tiny, isolated population is vulnerable to disaster, disease and inbreeding. The lions share the Gir Forest protected area with more than 15,000 people, who use the land to graze cattle.

Our majestic, playful pride of sisters – Rubi, Heidi and Indi – are vital ambassadors for their cousins in the wild. They inspire and inform the public, will help preserve genetic diversity in our lion population through careful breeding, and help conservationists and scientists gain vital understanding about the species.

ZSL’s Lions400 campaign aims to support the urgent work needed to ensure the future of Asiatic lions in India and create a stunning home for ZSL London Zoo’s lions, inspiring commitment from all who visit.

Tables range from £3,000 to £50,000. Don’t miss your chance, please call 020 7449 6443 to find out more and book your place at this unique event.
