Chagos Environment Family Day

ZSL's Conservation and Education teams are hosting a day of fun for the Chagossian community this July.

On the 7th of July a team of ZSL's marine conservation and education staff will be taking over the education centre to hold a day of celebration for the UK Chagossian community. Come along to learn about the marine and island wildlife and ecology, as well as contributing your own memories and ideas about why conserving this unique place in the Indian Ocean is so important. Activities will include:

Sounds and images of Chagos - immerse yourself in the photographs, films and recordings taken from the lands and waters of Chagos.

Children's art activities - come and add your fish to the reef, find out about the wonderful undersea creatures found here.

Games and competitions - with prizes to be won!

Where's Nemo? - join the London Zoo treasure trail.

Discover SCUBA - find out how people have explored underwater and how ZSL's scientists survey the Chagos reefs.

Music and Dance - experience traditional Chagossian music.

Questions and Answers - join the discussion on why the Chagos archipelago is such an important place to you and the need to preserve it.

ZSL teaching and training - ask us how you could get involved in further phases of ZSL's outreach programmes through an environmental training course .
