5 DAY SCULPTURE COURSE Bumblebee

This year's ZSL Sculpture Course focuses on invertebrates and small vertebrate anatomy (including small mammals, birds and reptiles). This course includes drawing animals whilst developing an understanding of their anatomy, particularly the skeletal (or exoskeleton) form, and the collection of natural materials in the Zoo along with clay and supportive drawings, with the aim of creating a sculptures inspired by the 'unseen' side of the Zoo using actual specimens.

5 DAY FINE ART COURSE Tiger naturetrek

You will be making watercolour studies focusing on the skin markings of selected animals. Starting with Zebras we will consider how their main predators, lions, are confused by the black and white stripes because they are colour blind. You will also be learning about and painting animal perceptions, for example butterflies and bees see ultraviolet, whilst sharks and cats eyes contain mirrored crystals so they can see in low light. Whilst we can never actually ‘see’ like other animals, through art you will create works that pushes the boundaries and challenge assumptions about how the world appears.

Inclusive dates: Aug 18, 24, 25, 31, Sept 1
