ZSL London Zoo’s Sumatran tigers get to grips with the Easter bunny
ZSL London Zoo’s newest resident enjoyed a special Easter treat ahead of the bank holiday weekend - a delicious snack of rabbit.
Tiger Territory’s female tiger Melati got her paws on some tender pieces of meat hidden inside an Easter themed papier mache giant egg.
Forming part of her daily enrichment programme which aims to stimulate the big cat’s curiosity and encourage her natural behaviours, the meat is placed inside the scented, hollow paper egg which Melati had to hunt out across her 27,000sqft enclosure (2,500sqm).
Designed by ZSL’s keepers and conservationists to provide the ultimate big cat habitat, Tiger Territory is home to a pair of critically endangered Sumatran tigers, male Jae Jae and his female mate, Melati.
Now open to the public, Tiger Territory gives visitors the chance to come face-to-face with these incredible animals. Find out more about Tiger Territory.
