Sunbathing beauties!
Wednesday 7 June 2006
It's not just the human population getting out in the sun and soaking up a few rays - the animals at ZSL London Zoo are also appreciating the warm weather after a long and cold winter.
As the summer temperatures rise our keepers employ a number of seasonal methods such as showers for the bearded pigs, frozen fruit lollies for the giraffes and fish ice buckets for the penguins.
These techniques not only keep the animals cool and comfortable but also offer a great form of enrichment to their daily lives.
Read our Keepers Diary and find out how Ollie, our trainee keeper has been keeping his charges cool in the summer sun. Keepers Diary - May 2006
