Blondie the porcupine is used to causing a stir with her striking looks, but for the biggest night on ZSL London Zoo’s calendar she’ll be stealing the show.
For whilst her fellow porcupine pals will blend into the shadows at Zoo Nights, Blondie will be glowing in the dark.
Blondie is a rare white porcupine, who shares her home in the Zoo’s Animal Adventure exhibit with three of her more ‘standard’ looking friends, Nancy, Polly and Lena.
This is the first time that these animals will see visitors in the Zoo after dark and keepers are confident that Blondie will dazzle them all.
Visitors are always amazed by Blondie’s stunning white spikes, and as Zookeeper Angela Ryan explains, it’s no surprise: 'White porcupines are very rare, as most are usually black or brown in colour.
'Blondie, however, is very comfortable with all of the fuss she gets, and loves to show herself off in front of the visitors.'

Spiky by look, but not by nature, Blondie loves being centre of attention and with her adoring public, she shares more than just a hairdo with her celebrity namesake.
Visitors will be able to see Blondie enjoying her first ever late night at Zoo Nights this coming Friday.
With a packed schedule of animal talks, feeds, demonstrations, special entertainment and of course a once-a-year chance to see ZSL London Zoo after dark; Zoo Nights is an event not to be missed.
