Bald eagles usually pair for life and use the same nest each year. The largest known bird nest ever recorded belonged to a bald eagle. It was 2.9m wide, and an incredible 6m deep. It weighed more than 3,000kg.

North America, from Alaska and Canada to Florida and the Mexican border

Lakes, rivers, marshes, estuaries and coasts
What they eat
Mainly fish, but also ducks, small mammals and carrion
