Meet the gorillas
At ZSL London Zoo you can see our three gorillas, who are living in their flash new pad, Gorilla Kingdom. Meet them here first by flicking through our photo album.
Bobby is our 23-year-old male gorilla who has been at the Zoo for four years and he’s a real gentle giant. Despite his 30-stone bulk he is very mild mannered and is happiest sitting around in the sun. His long term companion
Zaire, 33, has been here since 1984, so she’s one of the Zoo’s old timers. Zaire is a real character who is happiest when she’s taking down and rebuilding her nest in various spots around the island. She loves to play with fabric and often drags it around with her all day.
Effie, 14, is the newest addition to ZSL London Zoo and keepers are just in the process of getting to know her character. She enjoys seeing toddlers and often makes her way over to the glass when they come to see her. As Zaire is too old to breed, we’re hoping that Effie and Bobby will get together and we’re sure if they do that Zaire will make a great aunt!
