Animal facts
British field crickets are uniquely adapted to England’s short, cool summers. The male 'sings' with his wings to attract a mate who will share his burrow, lay eggs and then drive him away. Almost extinct in Britain in the early 1990's, London Zoo has bred and released several thousand into sites protected by English Nature.
