Whipsnade, Arnrid Banniza Johnston, 1932
Arnrid Johnston was most renown for his lithographic illustrations for Penguin books in particular Puffin Picture Books. They were edited by Noel Carrington who employed young artists to illustrate this series of inexpensive (cost only sixpence) cheerful, colourful books aimed at educating children. He designed posters and adverts for the Underground Group and London Transport c1930-1940
The Zoological Society of London was founded in 1826 by Sir Stamford Raffles. Since then, their mission has been to promote and achieve the worldwide conservation of animals and their habitats in the wild as well as at ZSL London Zoo and ZSL Whipsnade Zoo.
