Matthew Rendle Veterinary Nurse London Zoo

'I’m a very keen herpetologist,' says Matthew, who has kept and bred reptiles and amphibians since he was ten.

Matt Rendle'I keep poison arrow frogs, chameleons, monitors and snakes, as well as two dogs and a cat.'

Matthew has worked in a veterinary environment since 1989. He qualified as a vet nurse in 1992 and dealt with everything from fish to horses, but always wanted to concentrate on exotics.

Joining the veterinary staff of ZSL in 2003, Matthew enjoys the 'everyday challenges of improving husbandry and animal welfare, and conserving endangered animals,' and in particular feels 'very lucky to be able to work so closely with the Komodo dragons and Gila monsters.'

Eager to share his impressive knowledge and expertise, Matthew is also involved in teaching the exotics section of vet nurses at the Royal Veterinary College.
