The Charles Darwin Award 2008

This is awarded annually for outstanding work in zoology. The winner of the ZSL Charles Darwin Award receives a certificate and a monetary prize of £600

The Award is open to undergraduate students attending a university of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The Charles Darwin Award will be given for an outstanding zoological project carried out and written by an undergraduate during the period September 2007 to August 2008. To avoid difficulties arising from too rigid a schedule, projects will be accepted a month before or a month after these dates.

Heads of Department are requested to recommend one undergraduate research student whose project was considered to be outstanding.

A letter or recommendation, along with the project and a detailed report on the candidate’s work, should be sent to:

The Secretary of the Awards Committee,
Zoological Society of London,
Regent’s Park,
London
NW1 4RY

The following additional information should also be submitted:

  1. The candidate’s date of birth.
  2. The degree the candidate is studying
  3. The length of time over which the project was undertaken.
  4. The nature and extent of assistance given to the undergraduate.

Recommendations must be received no later than 30 November 2008.

The Council of ZSL request that the candidate should not be told of the recommendation.

The Charles Darwin Award will be announced early in 2009 and will be presented to the winning student in June 2009. Projects will be returned to the departments when the Award is announced.
