Post–16 studies at ZSL London Zoo

The London Zoo education programme can extend and enhance Post-16 studies in school, college or university.

We aim to enthuse and inspire students by giving them a stimulating, alternative learning experience.

Primate biology and evolution (AS/A2 level)
This session provides an overview of the evolution, diversity and biology of primates. This can be booked as a talk or as a full day of study.

Phobias (AS/A2) (Autumn and Spring term only)
Guest speaker John Clifford, a clinical hypnotherapist, talks about phobia triggers and responses. Students will experience a graduated exposure to an animal that commonly causes a phobic response and see a hypnosis therapy demonstration.

Bobby and Mjukuu Gorillas

The role of a modern zoo (AS/A2 level and HE)
Using current case studies from ZSL, this session helps students to understand the role of a modern zoo in breeding, conservation, research and education. This can be booked as a talk or as a full day’s workshop.

Edexcel biology visit report special (AS level only)
This full day of study explores the practical application of science within the Zoological Society and includes observation time in the Zoo.

We may be able to tailor presentations for your group. Please ask at the time of booking.

Why not make your visit in the Autumn or Spring terms and avoid the crowds? There’s lots to see indoors or undercover, especially in the tropical Butterfly Paradise, Gorilla Kingdom, the Rainforest Lookout and B.U.G.S!
