The British IslesThis biome provides opportunities for hands-on exploration and learning for visitors of all ages, interests and needs. Whether through close encounters with native octopus and corals, or seeing underwater views of local pond life, visitors will gain a new understanding of British natural heritage and learn how they can take an active role in aquatic conservation.
The AtlanticExperience the dramatic drifting habitat of the jellyfish and the sheer scale of the giant blue world of the open oceans. Come face-to-face with sea turtles, gliding rays and the ultimate predators – the sharks. A multi-media presentation highlights concerns about the use and misuse of our marine resources and ultimately guides visitors to make the right choices about what fish to eat.
The Indo PacificThis is a world of coral, mangroves and seagrass, of tropical fish and seahorses. As well as learning about the scientists and fishermen who live and work here, visitors take a simulated dive over one of the most dazzling and colourful displays of life on earth – a coral reef. This biome tells the story of the tightrope we need to walk between overuse and sustainable use of our natural resources.
The AmazonThis hot and humid space encapsulates the true diversity of the Amazon, with its flooded forests, fast-flowing streams and piranha pools. Two-metre-long fish swim through the branches of the flooded trees, crunching on nuts and seeds. At a field station within the depths of the forest, visitors will discover the challenges faced every day by scientists working in this remote area.
