The development is being constructed on brownfield land in the Borough of Newham, a part of London which is moving from a difficult past towards a bright future. Silvertown Quays aims to be an exemplar of sustainable development, through rehabilitating derelict land and driving urban regeneration by creating jobs, new infrastructure and socioeconomic opportunity.

As well as providing a focal point for the economic regeneration of the Royal Docks, this world-class visitor attraction will form part of the largest regeneration project in Europe – the Thames Gateway. The area covers approximately 80,000 hectares, stretching east from London’s Tower Bridge to the mouth of the Thames. The Thames Gateway is expected to see billions of pounds of investment over the next 12 years, with 120,000 new homes, new transport, schools, health facilities and the infrastructure needed to create sustainable communities for current and future residents.
