ZSL Whipsnade Zoo in association with the Children's University
ZSL Whipsnade Zoo has just become a validated learning destination with the Children’s University. The Children’s University is aimed at 5-14 year olds and promotes learning outside of the school environment by encouraging children to love learning and raise aspirations and achievement. Children can record their learning in their very own ‘passport to learning’ which is given to them by the Children’s University. They collect learning hours in their passport and can be awarded certificates for their hard work.
On a trip to ZSL Whipsnade Zoo members of the Children’s University can find out more about the species at the Zoo, what ZSL is doing for conservation as well as collecting learning hours for their passport. For each day visit to Whipsnade Zoo children can collect two learning hours. If they also attend an educational session with their school they can collect even more hours! Children just need to bring their passports and present them to the Education Officer at their session or at the main shop at the end of their visit to get an official ZSL Whipsnade Zoo sticker for their passport.
Children aged between 5 and 14 can sign up for the Children's University either as an individual or whole schools can join. To find out more about the Children's University please visit their website www.childrensuniversity.co.uk
