ZSL Whipsnade Zoo's first Fire Walk a roaring success

ZSL Whipsnade Zoo host their first ever Fire Walk.

Fire Walk

Could you harness the power of your mind, overcome your fears and walk on fire? Well that’s exactly what a group of brave fundraisers did at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo’s first ever Fire Walk.

On Saturday 9 March a group of 40 participants took on a challenge of a lifetime, as they prepared themselves to face a nerve-jangling, bare-footed walk over red-hot coals, all in the name of charity!

To mentally prepare themselves for the task ahead, these brave fire walkers began the evening by attending a 'Nothing is Impossible' seminar. Here they learnt to turn their fear state into unstoppable power to overcome any obstacles and challenges. The Fire Master then led them out to the path of fire where over 100 friends and family had gathered to cheer them on.

Development Officer at ZSL, Sarah Knowles said: “The ZSL Whipsnade Zoo Fire Walk was a high energy challenge event, allowing those who took part to take on a challenge of their lifetime and raise vital funds for ZSL.”

Amazingly, not only did every fire walker complete the challenge but many returned for a second go! Between them they raised a fantastic total of over £10,000 for ZSL, marking a successful end to, quite literally, ZSL Whipsnade Zoo’s hottest event of the year.
