Wolverine gets his teeth into a tasty treat

Thursday 17 February 2011

Only the choicest cuts of meat will do for ZSL Whipsnade Zoo’s wolverine Puff – quail and venison are the delicacies most desired by this sharp toothed furry beast.

ZSL Whipsnade Zoo's Puff the wolverine

Wolverines, with their strong razor-sharp jaws, will eat most things, but Puff is partial to the best.

His refined tastes in food are keeping his keepers on their toes. He turns his nose up liver and instead likes the fleshy, tasty meat and birds in particular.

He enjoys a regular meal of a couple of quails and pigeon, served up in his rugged woodland enclosure which he shares with female Pigh.

Wolverine are native to Northern boreal forests, including Alaska, Canada and northern Europe and this late winter period is the best time to catch them out and about.
