The sealions at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo are busy putting the finishing touches to Sealion Splash Live!

Dom, Bailey, Lara, Kyra and Salt will be demonstrating their aquatic skills and balancing prowess in their newly revamped pool, giving visitors a unique chance to see them up close and learn more about them as they demonstrate their natural behaviours.
Senior keeper Alex Pinnell said: “The sealions are back into the swing of things after their relaxing holiday at ZSL London Zoo while their pool was refurbished. Training has been going really well and we can’t wait to get started. Sealion Splash Live! is really good opportunity for visitors to get up close to the sealions and learn more about them and we’ve been working hard to make sure the shows are the best they can be. They’re livelier and there’s a good chance of getting soaked if you stand too near to the front!”
Californian sealions are known for their intelligence and playfulness and the five of them will be putting this to good use when their show returns on Saturday (March 31). Sealion Splash Live! takes place three times a day at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm.
Live! animal demonstrations and talks
The live action continues with the Zoo’s feathered friends who will be showcasing their skills in Birds of the World. A bald eagle, hawks and macaws will be just some of the birds swooping through the sky as part of the spectacular free-flying bird display taking place in the Bird Arena.
Down on the Children’s Farm, bunny hugging sessions will be taking place as part of some friendly farmyard fun. Get up close and personal with the animals and meet the farm’s resident ponies, sheep, goats, llamas and wallabies.
The Zoo’s team of Explainers will also be on hand to give visitors the inside scoop on animals including Eurasian brown bears, penguins and elephants, as well as providing Easter-themed enrichment for the ring-tailed lemurs, red river hogs and sloth bears to enjoy. Visitors can also have their faces painted, see and learn about a range of different animal eggs, and enjoy a barbecue on the lawn.
