New kids on the block

ZSL Whipsnade Zoo’s latest recruits, four Nubian goats, are fast making friends with their new neighbours.

As the four male goats are free-roaming around the Children’s Farm, they have plenty of opportunities to poke their noses around in the various stables and barns. Known for their inquisitive and friendly nature, they are settling into their new home well.
The group, made up of two adults and two kids, have been getting to know the donkeys, including the extremely rare Poitou donkeys, the cattle, lemurs and alpaca. They have already struck up a great friendship with the fellow free-roaming turkeys.
Nubian goats are a breed of domestic goat. Their heritage is from British native milking stock and goats from the Middle East and North Africa. Their distinguishing characteristics include large, freely swinging ears and a 'Roman' nose. Due to their Middle-Eastern heritage, they can live in very hot climates and have a longer breeding season than other dairy goats.
