The elephants were given a giant football to play with in their paddock in the run up to Shaun the Sheep Championsheeps , which takes place at the Zoo from 2 June to 10 June.

Senior keeper Stefan Groeneveld says: “The elephants love playing with their pilates balls and also a huge football which we have for them, especially two-year-old Donna. It’s brilliant exercise for them.”

Shirley will be rolled around an obstacle course in a game called Flock ‘n’ Roll, while other games, featuring popular Shaun the Sheep characters, include Shirley’s Piathon, Cabbage Keepie Upie, Naughty Pigs Sack Race and Get Fit with the Flock – a mass participation session of hula hooping, aerobics and line dancing.

All of these activities are included in the standard zoo admission ticket offering fantastic value for money for visitors.

Shaun the Sheep, who found fame through his BBC TV programme, is known around the world for his cheeky japes and whether you’re new to Shaun or a dyed in the wool fan, you’re sure to enjoy the farmyard fun at ZSL Whipsnade Zoo this summer.
